A 39-year-old Australian man was beaten by his girlfriend’s brother in Jagna, Bohol on Sunday, June 4, 2023.
The victim, Vaughan Jirobard, was reportedly arguing with his girlfriend, Jovaira Omoso, when her brother, Hanjam Omoso, intervened and punched Jirobard in the face several times.
Jirobard sustained bruising to his face and was taken to the Jagna Police Station to report the incident.
Police Staff Sergeant Artemio Jamora, desk officer of the Jagna Police, said that Hanjam Omoso is still at large and that they are investigating the incident.
It is not yet clear what caused the argument between Jirobard and Jovaira Omoso, but Jamora said that it is possible that it was a domestic dispute.
The Australian Embassy in Manila has been notified of the incident and is providing consular assistance to Jirobard.
