Bohol Government, UNDP Discuss Climate-Resilient Housing

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBH) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) met on June 6, 2023 to discuss the status of Bohol’s recovery from Typhoon Odette, particularly in the area of climate-resilient housing.

The meeting was led by PGBH Governor Aris Aumentado and UNDP Country Director Oyunbaatar Baatar. Other participants included UNDP Migration and Displacement Specialist Sebastian Boll, UNDP Project Manager Camille Soriano, UNDP Project Officer Patricia Mae De la Druz, PPDO Shelter Focal Person Ronilita Bunado, PPDO Staff Sarah Mae Cajes, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Reina Thea Damalerio, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Ryan Palma.

The discussion focused on the following:

The meeting concluded with a commitment from both parties to work together to build climate-resilient housing in Bohol.

UNDP’s DevLIVE+ application is a valuable tool that can help Bohol to better understand its vulnerabilities and exposures to climate change and natural hazards. The application can also be used to track progress in disaster risk reduction and to identify areas where additional support is needed.

The meeting between the PGBH and UNDP was a positive step forward in the recovery of Bohol from Typhoon Odette. The cooperation between the two organizations will be essential to building climate-resilient housing and to reducing the risk of future disasters in Bohol.
