Tagbilaran City College (TCC) made history
as it celebrated its first commencement
exercises on June 2, 2023 at the Bohol
Wisdom School Auditorium, with the theme:
“Sustaining Quality Education, Molding
Transformational Leaders”.
453 TCC graduates were awarded degrees in
Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management,
Bachelor of Science in Office Administration,
and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.
City mayor Jane Yap, in her heartfelt
message to the pioneering graduates,
expressed her utmost pride and admiration for
their dedication and hard work throughout
their academic journey.
“Your success serves as an inspiration to
future generations of Tagbilaranons and a
testament to the transformative power of
education. I encourage you to embrace your
roles as leaders and strive to create a positive
impact in our society,” mayor Yap said.
The TCC activity commenced in the morning
with a Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Charlton
Plateros. It was followed with the investiture
of Dr. Del Mark Cagatin as the inaugural
president of Tagbilaran City College.
This significant ceremony marked Dr.
Cagatin’s official assumption of leadership of
the College dedicated to steering TCC
towards greater heights.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Cagatin
expressed gratitude for the trust given him
and outlined his vision for the college,
emphasizing the importance of quality
education and the development of
transformational leaders.
The event also paid tribute to the parents and
guardians who have been providing
unwavering support to the graduates
throughout their academic journey.
A recognition ceremony honored student
awardees and their exceptional achievements
and hard work.
Dr. Maura Consolacion Cristobal, Regional
Director of the Commission on Higher
Education Regional 7, graced the morning
session as the guest speaker. Her
inspirational message emphasized the role of
higher education in shaping the future of the
country. She also commended TCC for its
commitment to providing quality education.
In the afternoon, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian,
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic
Education, served as the guest speaker.
Senator Gatchalian shared words of wisdom
and inspiration with the graduates.
As earlier said, the occasion also included the
swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Del Mark Cagatin
as the first-ever school TCC president. Mayor
Yap had the honor of officially inaugurating
Dr. Cagatin, while Senator Win Gatchalian
administered the oath of office.
Esteemed guests included former city mayor
John Geesnell Baba Yap who was recognized
as the founding father of TCC, vice mayor
Adam Relson Jala, councilor Nicanor Besas,
department heads and heads of offices of the
City Government of Tagbilaran.
