Two suspects of the robbery incident that happened at an Ubay Gas Station in April this year were arrested anew but one suspect remains at large.
BPPO Provincial Director Col. Lorenzo Batuan told media that police personnel in Ubay and Guindulman PNP stations have recaptured the two suspects in the robbery of the gas station in Brgy. San Pascual, Ubay through an arrest warrant, while the search for another suspect continues.
According to Batuan, they arrested Florencio Pelonia, 54, and Jerry Ofamin, 37, all residents in Bohol. Meanwhile, another suspect identified as Rogelio Edisa, Jr., 27, of Zamboanga, remains at large.
Two suspects in the robbery-killing incident at Sailor Oil gasoline station were rearrested after they were released earlier due to technicalities in the police’s conduct of their previous warrantless apprehension.
The two former security guards were pinpointed to have robbed the Sailor Oil station in San Pascual, Ubay and gunned down one of the establishment’s security personnel. This time, the apprehensions were carried out by virtue of arrest warrants for robbery with homicide issued by Judge Azucena Macalolot-Credo of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 10 in Talibon.
“Right after the release of the suspects right after the inquest proceedings, I directed Major Romar Labasbas to produce evidence and take necessary actions to arrest the suspects through a warrant and further conduct monitoring, resulting in this positive development,” said Batuan.
According to Camp Dagohoy, the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office previously ordered the release of Ofamin and Pelonia following an inquest proceeding in which the fiscal deemed the arrest to have been carried out beyond the allowable time for a warrantless arrest through a hot pursuit operation.
The duo along with Edisa allegedly carted away over P300,000 during the heistt. They also shot dead the gasoline’s station’s security guard Marlowe Aparado, 29, who tried to stop them from taking the cash.
