Chatto shares climate changeinitiatives in environment forum

Bohol First District Cong. Edgar Chatto, chair of the House
Committee on Climate Change, shared his thoughts on the
challenges the world is facing in a video message during the
Radio BALINTATAW program on Sunday, June 11 2023.

The program, dubbed Kalikasa, Kapayapaan at Kalayaan,
focused on the global observance of June as World
Environment Month.
Chatto enumerated legislative efforts in Congress, including the
passage of Republic Act 11898 or the Expanded Producers
Responsibility Act of 2022. This act provides ways to retrieve
and recycle waste products.
He also reported on House-approved bills on Integrated
Coastal Management and Peatlands Conservation.
The program featured speakers such as DSWD Secretary Rex
Gatchalian, DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo, DepEd Director of
International Partnerships Margarita Ballesteros, Senator
Cynthia Villar, and UNACOM Chair Ivan Henares.
It was organized in partnership with the United Nations
Association of the Philippines (UNAP) and moderated by Cecile
Guidote Alvarez of the Earthsavers DREAMS Ensemble.
The Philippine Center of the International Theatre Institute held
two simultaneous public fora at the Philippine Women’s
University and in a coastal community in Bicol.
The patriotic duty of reducing carbon, water and waste
footprints was discussed after a closed viewing of “Amon
Banwa sa Lawud” directed by Anton Juan.
