The Sangguniang Bayan of Jagna is considering a resolution that would authorize Mayor Joseph Rañola to enter into a contract with Tanghalang Pilipino (TP) for a two-night performance of ¡NI HAGNA NA!, a cultural and historical presentation of the history of Jagna.
The presentation, which will be held during the town’s November festival, will be created by TP, one of the seven resident performing groups under the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
The show will be directed by Nanding Josef, the Artistic Director of TP and former CCP Vice President, and will feature Chris Millado, the former Vice President of CCP and also an Artistic Director.
The show will also feature the work of Bol-anong artist Marianito Luspo, who is the scriptwriter for ¡NI HAGNA NA!.
The resolution is expected to be approved by the Sangguniang Bayan on Monday. If approved, the show will be a major boost for the cultural and historical development of Jagna.
The show will help Jagnaanons to understand their own history and culture, and will also provide an opportunity for them to learn from the expertise of TP’s experienced artists.
The show is also expected to attract visitors from all over Bohol, and will help to promote Jagna as a cultural destination.
Mayor Rañola has said that he is confident that the show will be a success, and that it will help to “level up” Jagna’s cultural and historical offerings.
“This is a unique opportunity for Jagna,” he said. “We are the only town in Bohol that has something like this, and I am confident that the show will be a success.”
