NOW SHOWING
“Haunted Mansion” at
Screenville Cinemas

A remake of “The Haunted Mansion” starring Eddie Murphy in
2003, and based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same
name, “Haunted Mansion” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island
City Mall and Alturas Mall.
While the original film revolved around two real estate agents who find
themselves trapped in a haunted mansion with their two children, the new
film adaptation is about a single mother named Gabbie (Rosario Dawson-
“Sin City” films) and her 9-year-old son Travis (Chase Dillon) who move into
a mansion in New Orleans hoping for a fresh start.
However, they quickly learn that their home is not what it appears to
be after they discover that it is inhabited by ghosts. They want to exorcise
their newly-bought mansion and destroy the ghosts around them. So, they
enlist the help of a paranormal tour guide (LaKeith Stanfield), a psychic
(Tiffany Haddish), a priest (Owen Wilson-“Night at the Museum” films) and a
historian (Danny DeVito-“Romancing the Stone”, “The Jewel of the Nile”).

COMING SOON
“Meg 2” at
Screenville Cinemas

A sequel to the hit monster film, “The Meg” in 2018, where divers
from a wrecked submarine battle for survival against a gigantic prehistoric
shark, “Meg 2: The Trench” will premiere worldwide on Wednesday, August
2, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall, two days
ahead of the US release.
A deep-sea submersible with an international research team on board
lies disabled and stranded at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean after having
been attacked by a massive shark previously thought to be extinct.
With time running out, expert rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason
Statham-“The Transporter” films) is recruited by a Chinese oceanographer
(Winston Chao) to save the crew from a colossal 75-foot-long shark known
as the Megalodon. To survive, they must outrun and outsmart their
merciless predators.
What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had
encountered this same terrifying creature. Now he must risk his own life to
save everyone trapped below the deepest depths of the ocean, forcing him
face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

Shakey’s at Island City Mall
One of the most popular pizza restaurants in the Philippines, Shakey’s
Pizza is now open here in Tagbilaran City, located at the so-called Streatside
of Island City Mall, just beside Kenny Rogers in front of the mall carpark.
Diners can check out one of its bestsellers, the Manager’s Choice
pizza, loaded with the meaty goodness of ham, beef, and Italian sausage
with the zesty taste of green bell peppers and onions. Another everyone’s
favorite is the Angus Burger pizza with its juicy beef patty bits, fresh
tomatoes, crunchy onions, and whole cheese slices on top of the restaurant’s
signature thin crust.
Of course, Shakey’s also offers the classic favorite Pepperoni pizza,
which has generous amounts of pepperoni atop a perfectly cooked crust,
providing simple yet sumptuous flavors with every bite. You can also get the
massive 18-inch Grand Slam Pizza, divided into 4 flavors, for those groups
who can’t settle for just one.
As thirst-quencher, one can get iced tea or soft drinks served in
pitchers so everyone at the table can pour themselves a glass and wash it all
down.
Shakey’s is more than just pizza and pasta. They also serve chicken
and gravy over rice, chicken wings with onion rings, and double-decker
cheeseburgers with fries.
It was in 1954 in Sacramento, California, when Shakey’s was founded
by Ed Plummer and Sherwood Johnson. Johnson had suffered nerve damage
after a bout of malaria during World War II, and earned the nickname
“Shakey,” from which the restaurant’s name originated. Over the next
decade, the pizza parlor spread throughout the USA with over 270 locations.
In the Philippines, it began under the ownership of San Miguel Corp.
and the first branch was opened in Makati back in 1975. It quickly spread
throughout Metro Manila, rising in popularity as a great place to hang out,
eat good food, and listen to live music.
To date, Shakey’s now has more than 300 company-owned and
franchised stores nationwide, including its latest store which opened last July
18, at Island City Mall.
