Sandugo Street Dancing and RitualShowdown resumes in Bohol

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) has
announced the resumption of the Sandugo Street
Dancing and Ritual Showdown after a three-year
hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event
will be held on July 30, 2023, at the Plaza Rizal in
Tagbilaran City.

Ten (10) contingents will vie for this year’s
championship, consisting of the municipalities of
Pilar, Loay, Talibon, Carmen, Guindulman,
Calape, Getafe, Buenavista, Tubigon, and the City
of Tagbilaran. The grand champion will receive
P500,000 and a trophy, while the first and second
runners-up will be awarded P300,000 and
P150,000, respectively.
The Sandugo Street Dancing and Ritual
Showdown is a major highlight of the month-long
Sandugo Festival, which commemorates the blood
compact between Spanish explorer Miguel López
de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna, the chieftain of
Bohol. The festival is a celebration of Bohol’s rich
history and vibrant culture.
“We are excited to finally resume the Sandugo
Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown after a three-
year hiatus,” said Governor Aris Aumentado. “This
event is a great way to showcase Bohol’s rich
history and vibrant culture to the world. We are
confident that this year’s event will be a success.”
The Sandugo Street Dancing and Ritual
Showdown is open to the public. Admission is free.
