Miss Bohol Pauline Amelinckx makeshistory as first “The Miss Philippines”

Pauline Amelinckx, the 26-year-old beauty queen from Bohol, has added another
feather to her cap as she was officially named the first The Miss Philippines on August
10, 2023.
She received her crown and sash from Miss Universe Philippines National Director
Shamcey Supsup and Creative and Events Director Jonas Gaffud during a homecoming
ceremony at Okada Manila.
Amelinckx, who was also the first runner-up in the Miss Supranational 2023 pageant
held in Poland last month, expressed her gratitude and excitement for her new role.

“I am honored and humbled to be the inaugural The Miss Philippines queen. I hope to
use this platform to promote our rich culture and heritage, as well as to inspire positive
change in our society,” she said.
The Miss Philippines is a new pageant founded by Supsup and Gaffud, who are also
the leaders of the Miss Universe Philippines organization.
It is described as the “newest, most innovative, and modern pageant in the Philippines”
that aims to showcase the Filipino spirit and values through The Filipino Festival.
The winners of The Miss Philippines will represent the country in the international
pageants of Miss Supranational and Miss Charm.
Amelinckx, who is of Belgian-Filipino descent, has been a consistent achiever in the
pageant scene.
She won Miss Bohol 2017, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018, and was third runner-up in Miss
Universe Philippines 2020. She is also a runway model, a host, and an advocate for
environmental education among children.
As The Miss Philippines, Amelinckx will have the opportunity to mentor and guide the
next batch of aspiring beauty queens who will vie for the title in October 2023.
She said that she is looking for someone who can fit the mold of The Miss Philippines,
which is different from other pageants.
“They will always be looking for something in particular. As The Miss Philippines,
Pauline represents confidence, intelligence, and positive change in addition to being a
beauty queen,” according to the organization’s social media page.
Amelinckx also shared her life-changing decision to join Miss Universe Philippines again
despite being bashed and doubted by some people.
She said that she found strength in herself and her story can be a testament for others
to draw strength from too.
“A second chance can be just as sweet and you can still achieve your ultimate a second
time around,” she said.
