Barangay Kagawad and aspiring brgy captain nabbed in drug bust

LOAY, BOHOL – A barangay kagawad who was planning to run for barangay captain in the upcoming Barangay and SK 2023 Election was arrested in a joint operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Bohol Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA) and the Loay Police Station on Monday night, August 22, 2023.

The suspect, identified as Jonardo Apduhan Sr., 45, of Ward 1, Barangay Alegria Norte, was caught in a buy-bust operation at around 7 p.m. in Ward 3, Barangay Alegria Sur in this town.

He allegedly sold shabu to an undercover agent who posed as a buyer.

The operatives seized from him six small sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about three grams with a street value of P20,400. They also recovered the marked money used in the transaction.

According to PDEA Bohol, Apduhan is considered a high-value target because he is an elected official of the barangay.

He is also allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in his area.

Apduhan will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is currently detained at the PDEA Bohol detention facility pending the filing of the case.
