The Department of Tourism Central Visayas Office (DOT-7) organized a three-day media familiarization tour in Bohol recently to showcase the province’s rich faith and heritage attractions.
The tour, dubbed as “Balik sa Bohol”, aimed to promote Bohol and the region as the country’s leading faith-based tourism hub, as well as to support the recovery of the local tourism industry amid the pandemic.
The media participants visited various historical and cultural sites in Bohol, such as centuries-old churches, heritage houses, religious landmarks, and living cultural traditions.
They also witnessed the natural wonders of Bohol, which has been declared as the country’s first UNESCO Geopark and the world’s fifth largest geopark.
The highlight of the tour was the canonical crowning of the image of the Assumption of Our Lady of Dauis, which was presided by Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles John Brown on August 15. The event coincided with the feast day of Dauis, one of the oldest towns in Bohol.
