Felix E. Bompat High School in Bil-isan, Panglao celebrated its 5th
foundation day and the inauguration of its new 4-storey 12-classroom
building on September 14, 2023.
The school, which started with 8 borrowed tents, now has a P37 million
facility that can accommodate 483 high school students.
The new building was funded by the Department of Public Works and
Highways (DPWH) through the initiative of Bohol Rep. Edgar Chatto, who
graced the event along with other local officials and education
stakeholders.
Chatto said that he supported the project because he believes in the
importance of basic education for the future generation of Panglao and
Bohol.
He also shared how he secured the needed funds when he became a
congressman after visiting the school towards the end of his term as
governor.
He reported that he is championing for the cause of education in the budget
hearings in Congress.
Punong Barangay Albert Bompat, who is also the father of Fr. Vic Bompat
who blessed the new building, expressed gratitude for Chatto’s full support
and shared the school’s journey.
School-in-Charge Alda Hormiguera, Panglao Vice Mayor Noel
Hormachuelos, PTA President Everlinda Sato, and Department of
Education (DepEd) Bohol Schools District Superintendent Dr. Evangel
Luminarias also joined the inauguration.
