Chatto lauds Philippine Green Building Council for its efforts to combat climate change

Bohol First District Rep. Edgar M. Chatto expressed his support and appreciation for the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) for holding its Building Green Conference in Bohol and Panglao.

The conference, which marks the 17th anniversary of PHILGBC, aims to promote private-public cooperation in achieving net zero emissions through green building practices.

Chatto, who is the chair of the Climate Change Committee in Congress, was unable to attend the conference in person due to budget deliberations, but he sent his chief of staff Atty. Abel Damalerio to deliver his keynote speech.

In his speech, Chatto shared his work in Congress to enact laws and policies that address the problem of climate change and its impacts on the country.

He also congratulated PHILGBC for its leadership and advocacy in transforming the design, construction, and management of buildings, communities, and cities towards environmental sustainability.

He said that architects, green architects and builders have a critical role in the survival of mankind and the creation of a future Philippines that is carbon neutral and free from devastating calamities.

The Building Green Conference, which runs from October 2 to October 4, 2023, features speakers and panelists from various sectors and industries who will share their insights and experiences on green building initiatives and challenges.

The conference theme is “Pursuing Private-Public Cooperation in Net Zero through Green Building”.

The PHILGBC is a national non-profit organization that was established in 2006 to promote the development of green buildings in the country.

It is a member of the World Green Building Council, a global network of green building councils that aims to transform the built environment to create a healthier and more sustainable world.
