Motorcycle driver killed in Panglao road mishap

A motorcycle driver died after colliding with a van in Panglao town, Bohol province on Saturday night, police said.

The victim was identified as John Lev Liquit, 31, a resident of Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City.

He was driving a Kawasaki KMX motorcycle with plate number 2290-GA along the National Highway in Barangay Libaong, Panglao when the accident happened at around 11 pm.

According to PMaj. Andie Corpuz, chief of the Panglao Police Station, the motorcycle and the van were traveling in opposite directions when the van, driven by Eleazar Danhag, 69, also of Barangay Dao, Dauis, made a left turn and hit the motorcycle.

PSMS Roldan Bayocot, a member of the Bohol Tourist Police Unit, was the first to respond to the scene and brought Liquit to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Corpuz said they are still investigating the cause of the accident and who is liable for it.

He said they are waiting for the driver of the van and the family of the victim to settle the matter or file a formal complaint.

The Panglao police did not immediately provide information to the media about the incident.
