Loon Cruise Ship Port Development Secured

The Loon International Cruise Ship Port will undergo full development as a dedicated
port for cruise ships, according to Bohol First District Rep. Edgar M. Chatto.
Chatto has met with Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel
Santiago during the budget plenary in Congress.
Chatto said that this development will ease the congestion at Tagbilaran Port, which
handles both commercial and passenger traffic.

By designating Loon as a cruise ship port, the transport of supplies and business
goods will not be delayed, he noted.
Santiago also assured the province of other port developments, with former PPA
Bohol manager Engr. James Gantalao now in charge of Infrastructure Planning.
Chatto also discussed the development of Maribojoc Port, which includes the
resettlement of displaced families, the removal of structures from the previous
mooring facility, and the assessment of the need for dredging activities.
Last Tuesday, Chatto, along with Mayor Romulo Manuta, ABC president Wendy
Roxas, National Housing Authority (NHA) Bohol OIC Genesis Caesar Manalili and
Acting Principal Engineer Johndhel Gucor, inspected the Maribojoc Resettlement
Project Phase 1.
The project is under the NHA Resettlement Assistance Program – LGU, which aims
to provide housing for informal groups in danger areas and families affected by
government infrastructure projects. The project follows the guidelines of Republic Act
7279.
