The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), led by Governor Aris Aumentado, visited recently the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Central Office to follow up on the status of their requested funds for various employment and livelihood programs in the province.
Aumentado met with Hero Hernandez, the Chief of Staff of DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, and discussed the P150 million budget allocation for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), the Government Internship Program (GIP), and other livelihood projects that aim to create sustainable, income-generating communities in Bohol.
TUPAD is a program that provides temporary employment and income to individuals who have lost their jobs due to natural or man-made disasters, while GIP is a program that offers internship opportunities to young people who want to gain valuable work experience.
According to Governor Aumentado, these programs are vital in addressing the unemployment and economic challenges that Bohol faces, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that PGBh is committed to working closely with DOLE and other national government agencies to secure the necessary resources and support for the welfare and development of the Boholanos.
Hernandez assured Governor Aumentado that DOLE will expedite the processing and release of the funds as soon as possible.
He also commended PGBh for its proactive and strategic approach in implementing employment and livelihood programs that are aligned with the Strategic Change Agenda of the government.
