Antequera Town Fiesta 2023: A Celebration of Faith and Culture

Antequera, a vibrant town in Bohol, is all set to celebrate its annual town fiesta from
October 19 to October 28, 2023.
This year’s theme is “MARIA NGA MAGHUHUPAY: SAMA SA ANAK NGA
HUPAYON SA IYANG INAHAN, HUPAYON KO USAB KAMO…” (Isaiah 66:13),
which translates to “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.”
The fiesta is a socio-religious event that brings together the community in a spirit of
unity and celebration. The schedule is packed with various activities including
religious ceremonies, singing contests, variety shows, and even a motocross
competition.
Each day begins with the Sto. Rosario/Novena and Mass from 4:00 AM. to 5:00 PM,
led by different celebrants such as Rev. Fr. Sabino “Ado” Rebosura III, Rev. Fr.
Lucas Aja Wona, SVD and Msgr. Rocha, SVD, and Rev. Fr. Felix Cleopas M.
Silagan among others.
The evenings are filled with entertainment and camaraderie. Highlights include
Board Member Benjie Arcamo’s Night coordinated by Hon. Jan Mark J. Merencillo
on October 19th, the PEKAF-BOHOL 1st Senator Migz Zubiri Regional Invitational
Championship 2023 coordinated by Hon. Eugene G. Coquilla on October 20th, and
the PPC-PFC Night featuring an amateur singing contest coordinated by Hon.
Cecelia R. Salomon on October 21st.
The fiesta culminates on October 28th with a series of masses throughout the day,
including a Pontifical Mass celebrated by Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy, D.D.
The festivities extend until October 31st with a thrilling Motocross Competition at
Bitaugan Racetrack sponsored by LGU-Antequera and AMMARESIANS and
coordinated by Kag. A. Coquilla, Kag. Taray, and Kag. Merencillo.
The Antequera Town Fiesta is not just a celebration but also a testament to the
town’s rich culture and strong sense of community.
