Tagbilaran City welcomes USAID’s Urban Connect Project

Tagbilaran City, along with eight other secondary cities, is set to benefit from Urban Connect Project, a dynamic initiative supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Urban Connect is a comprehensive five-year economic development program designed to foster inclusive and resilient growth in secondary cities.

The project’s primary focus is to advance local economic development and enhance the delivery of public services.

The roll-out of the Urban Connect Project in Tagbilaran was marked by a City Improvement Planning workshop on October 10, 2023, held at the MetroCentre Hotel, Tagbilaran City.

The workshop brought together key personnel and department heads from the City Government, who actively participated in shaping the program’s direction within the city.

Heading the project as the City Project Officer for USAID Urban Connect is Ms. Madeleine Mary Boiser-Sinon, whose expertise and leadership will be pivotal in driving the project’s objectives forward.

Dr. Alex Brilliantes, Jr., Chief of Part of USAID Urban Connect Project, graced the event with his opening remarks and engaging presentation.

His insights set the stage for a constructive dialogue on how the project can best benefit Tagbilaran City and its residents.

City Mayor Jane Yap enthusiastically expressed her support for the Urban Connect Project, emphasizing the city’s commitment to progress and sustainable development.

She lauded the collaborative effort between the City Government and USAID, highlighting the potential for positive transformation in Tagbilaran City.

Throughout the workshop, the participants engaged in a series of interactive activities, including identifying key challenges faced by the city and proposing innovative solutions.

This process was followed by prioritizing these challenges and crafting action plans to address them effectively.

The Urban Connect Project represents a significant opportunity for Tagbilaran City to further its development agenda.

With the combined efforts of the City Government and USAID, the city is poised to embark on a journey of growth, resilience, and inclusivity, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
