Mayor Jane Yap, in a significant stride towards modernizing education and equipping
Tagbilaran City’s public schools with cutting-edge resources, distributed 63 units of
55-inch television sets to all 24 public elementary and secondary schools within the
city on September 25, 2023 at Cogon Elementary School.
In a simple turnover ceremony, Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos, the Schools Division
Superintendent of the City Schools Division of Tagbilaran City, joined school
principals in receiving these television sets on the said date.
The distribution of these state-of-the-art television sets aims to enhance the learning
experience of students by providing them with innovative instructional materials.
These materials foster critical thinking, clear communication process, collaborative
learning, creative problem-solving strategies, and a range of other essential skills
necessary for the success of learners in the modern world.
Mayor Jane Yap, a staunch advocate for quality education, views this initiative as a
critical component in fostering a generation of digitally literate and well-prepared
students.
In a statement, Mayor Yap emphasized, “Education is the cornerstone of progress,
and these television sets represent our commitment to providing our students with
the best tools and resources for their learning journey. We believe that by integrating
modern technology into our school modules and plans, we can empower our
students in the different fields of their choice. This is just one of the many steps we’re
taking to fulfill our vision of a digitally advanced and knowledge-driven Tagbilaran
City.”
The distribution of television sets to the public schools underscores the city’s
dedication to providing the best possible education for its youth.
It aligns perfectly with Mayor Yap’s overarching vision of a digital Tagbilaran City,
where education is a cornerstone of progress and development.
