Suspect in Talibon murder crime denies rape attempt

A man who allegedly stabbed a woman in Calituban, Talibon, Bohol, last Friday, October 13, 2023, has denied that he intended to rape her.

The suspect, Gerald Garcia, claimed that he was angry with the victim, Rosana Amorin, because she shouted at him for following her around.

He said he felt humiliated by her reaction and decided to take revenge on her.

According to PCpl. Peter Fuentes, the investigator of Talibon Municipal Police Station, the suspect sneaked into the victim’s house at dawn and stabbed Amorin multiple times.

“The suspect’s intention was to kill the victim because of their quarrel earlier that day. He said he wanted to kill her because she scolded him. He seemed to be annoyed by her”, Fuentes told Bandilyo 1116 of DYTR Bohol in an interview.

Fuentes said there were no signs that the suspect tried to rape Amorin, who are both residents of Calituban Island, Talibon, Bohol.

Fuentes said the suspect did not touch Amorin inappropriately or remove her clothes.

The suspect was arrested by the police and is facing charges of murder.
