Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The Bohol Tribune, one of the most respected newspapers
in the province, was honored with the Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Award during the 127th
CPG Day Celebration on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
The award was conferred by Gov. Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado, who led the
commemoration of the birth anniversary of the eighth president of the Philippines
and the most illustrious son of Bohol.
The Pres. CPG Award is given to Boholanos and establishments that excelled in
their respective fields of endeavors and contributed to the development and progress
of the province.
The Bohol Tribune, which was founded in 2013 by its former editor-in-chief Michael
Ortega Ligalig and Queen of Bohol Media Ms. Ardy Araneta Batoy, was recognized
for its outstanding journalism and public service. The newspaper has been covering
the news and events in Bohol and beyond for nearly a decade, providing accurate,
balanced, and credible information to its readers.
Because of this award, Ms. Ardy Ines Araneta-Batoy, the managing editor of the
Bohol Tribune, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the provincial
government and the CPG Day Committee.
She also dedicated the award to the Tirol Family, the staff and contributors of the
newspaper, as well as to the loyal readers and supporters of The Bohol Tribune.
The awarding ceremony was part of the commemorative program held at the Bohol
Cultural Center, which featured hymns, prayers, speeches, and cultural
presentations.
The program also included a wreath laying ceremony at the Pres. CPG Monument at
the Provincial Capitol, where the governor and other officials paid tribute to the
legacy and achievements of Pres. Garcia.

1957 and ran for reelection in 1961 but lost to Vice Pres. Diosdado Macapagal. He
died on June 14, 1971, in Quezon City.
The theme of the 127th CPG Day Celebration was “Buhing Panig-ingnan sa Tinu-od
nga Pangalagad Ngadto sa Katawhan” (Living Example of True Service to the
People), which reflected Pres. Garcia’s advocacy of the Filipino First Policy and the
