‘Basag Kotse Gang’ strikes in Bohol

A woman fell victim to the notorious Basag Kotse Gang, a group of criminals who smash car
windows to steal valuables, in the town of Dauis on Friday night.
Belle Ramos, a resident of Dauis, posted on Facebook her harrowing experience of losing
her laptop, pouches, and other items to the gang.
She said she parked her car along the side street of CauseWay Food Hub, a popular
restaurant in Dauis, and ate inside the resto.
After an hour, she was shocked to see that both her right windows were broken and her
belongings were gone.
She immediately reported the incident to the Dauis police station and hoped to get her things
back.
She also appealed to anyone who might have witnessed the crime or have any information
to contact her through private message.
Ramos said that many motorbikes pass by the corner where she parked her car.
She also warned the public to be careful in parking their cars and to make sure that the
establishment has CCTV cameras for security.

According to the victim, she had heard stories of the Basag Kotse Gang operating in Dauis,
but she did not expect it to happen to her.
The Basag Kotse Gang is a notorious group of thieves who target cars parked in isolated or
dark places, or even in traffic, and smash their windows to grab valuables inside.
These criminals usually use motorbikes to escape quickly after the crime.
They have been operating in various parts of the country, especially in Metro Manila and
Calabarzon regions.
Dauis is a coastal municipality in Bohol province, known for its fine beaches, resorts, and
historic church. It is located in the northern part of Panglao Island, which is connected to the
mainland by two bridges. It has a population of 52,492 as of 2020.
