Police seize over P13-M shabu in 24-hour operations

The Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) announced that it confiscated over 1.9
kilograms of shabu worth PhP13.3 million and arrested several high-profile drug
suspects in a series of buy-bust operations across the Central Visayas region in the
past 24 hours.
PRO 7 Regional Director PBGEN Anthony Aberin said the successful operations
were the result of strategic intelligence-driven and honest coordination with other law
enforcement agencies and the community in the region.
He said the operations were also in response to the strict instructions of Secretary of
the Interior and Local Government (SILG) Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr. to stop the
proliferation of illegal drugs under the Barangayanihan Iwas Droga (BIDA) program.
In Cebu City, operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police
Office (CCPO) arrested a drug peddler known as alias “Odot” at around 8:30 p.m. on
November 12, 2023, at Ludo Cemetery, Barangay Carreta.
They seized from the suspect 405 grams of shabu worth PhP2.75 million and other
pieces of evidence.
Meanwhile, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, the Drug Enforcement Team of the Tagbilaran
City Police Station of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) nabbed a
businessman and a high-profile drug personality and his cohort at 12:30 a.m. on
November 13, 2023, at Purok 1, Simbit Street, Barangay Dao.
They confiscated from the suspects 355 grams of shabu worth PhP2.41 million, a
cellular phone, and a motorcycle.
Another major seizure was made in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City at 3:00 a.m. on
the same day in an operation led by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit,
CCPO.
They arrested a drug pusher and recovered from him 1,022 grams of shabu worth
PhP6.95 million, cash, and other drug paraphernalia.
At around 2:31 p.m., the Talisay City Police Station of the Cebu Police Provincial
Office (CPPO) apprehended a laborer in possession of 180 grams of shabu worth
PhP1.22 million at Sitio Sawsawan, Barangay Roque, Talisay City.
They also seized from the suspect other pieces of evidence.
The arrested suspects will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous
Drugs Act of 2002.
PANGLAO RESORT WORKER ARRESTED IN BUY-BUST
A 28-year-old resort worker was arrested in a buy-bust operation that yielded shabu
worth PHP17,000 and a firearm with ammunition on Wednesday night, November
16, 2023, in Barangay Poblacion, Panglao, Bohol.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Jay”, a resident of Barangay Tawala and an
employee of a resort in Panglao, was caught selling shabu to an undercover agent of
the Panglao Police Station around 9:32 p.m. in Purok 6, Barangay Poblacion.

Police recovered from the suspect a loaded llama 9mm pistol with two magazines
and serial number 219387, and four sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 2.5
grams.
The operation was witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice, the
media, and the barangay officials of Barangay Poblacion.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591 or the
Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in accordance with the
Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.
The Comelec gun ban prohibits the unauthorized bearing, carrying, or transporting of
firearms and other deadly weapons outside residences, businesses, and public
places during the election period, which runs from August 28 to November 29, 2023,
for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
PCPT John Khalev Diel Sanchez, the officer-in-charge of the Panglao Police Station,
said they will continue their campaign against crime, especially illegal drugs, in their
town. He also thanked the local government unit and the people of Panglao for their
constant support.
LOBOC BUY-BUST
A 31-year-old jobless man was arrested for selling shabu in a buy-bust operation
conducted by the Loboc Drug Enforcement Team on Tuesday night, November 15,
2023, in Barangay Ugpong, Loboc, Bohol.
The suspect, identified only as Fil, a resident of Canlasid, Loboc, Bohol, was caught
in the act of handing over a sachet of shabu to an undercover agent of the Loboc
Municipal Police Station (MPS) around 11:28 p.m. in Purok 2, Barangay Ugpong.
Police seized from the suspect four sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 0.6
grams and worth PHP4,080 based on the standard drug price, a PHP500 bill used
as buy-bust money, an iPhone 5C, a sunglass casing, and a Mio motorcycle.
The operation was led by PCPT Eleazar Cenabre Mellomida, the chief of police of
Loboc MPS, and had a pre-operation control number of 20002-112023-0309. It was
witnessed by Barangay Chairman Teodosio Bucog, Kagawad Domingo Perocho,
and Sarahlyn G. Palaca of the Department of Justice. It was also recorded with the
use of two alternative recording devices in compliance with the Supreme Court rules
on the use of body-worn cameras in the execution of warrants.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs)
and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect was brought to the Loboc Rural Health Center for physical and medical
examination and then to the Loboc MPS for custody and proper disposition. The
recovered pieces of evidence will be brought to the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit,
Camp Dagohoy, Tagbilaran City for laboratory examination.
