City receives health accolades at Public Health Summit 2023

In a significant recognition of its commitment to public health, Tagbilaran City emerged as a double awardee at the Public Health Summit 2023 held at the Summit Galleria Hotel in Cebu City on November 17, 2023.

City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc proudly accepted the honors on behalf of the city. Tagbilaran City was bestowed with the prestigious “Health Awardee for Mobile Health Clinic,” acknowledging the city’s excellence in delivering health services through innovative and accessible means.

Furthermore, the city secured a place in the top 5 Local Government Units (LGUs) in the High Population Category with the Highest Coverage of the 2023 Measles, Rubella, and Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity Campaign.

This accomplishment reflects Tagbilaran City’s dedication to achieving high vaccination coverage and contributing to broader public health goals.

Mayor Jane Yap expressed profound pride and gratitude for Tagbilaran City’s dual achievements in the health sector, stating, “These accolades are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility and the commitment of Tagbilaran City to prioritize the well-being of our residents. We remain steadfast in our pursuit of innovative and accessible healthcare, ensuring that every member of our community receives the best possible health services”.

The awards were conferred by the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development, recognizing the city’s outstanding contributions to the health and well-being of its residents.

Tagbilaran City has recently garnered prestigious awards, including the coveted title of the “Most Business Friendly City” bestowed by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The city also clinched six awards in the 2023 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index survey of the Department of Trade and Industry last week.

Tagbilaran City Treasurer attends Singapore Foreign Study Mission

In a bid to further elevate local governance standards, Tagbilaran City Treasurer Hubert Inas successfully completed a Foreign Study Mission (FMS) from November 12 to November 18, 2023 in Singapore.

The FMS on Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities was sponsored by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) under the Adaptive Governance and Innovation for Local Executives (AGILE) program of the office of Senator Francis Tolentino and in partnership with the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.

The course aimed to equip local executives with the essential principles, concepts, and tools necessary for effective and innovative local governance, especially in the context of smart and sustainable urban development.

Among the participants were six Vice Governors, one Mayor, and eight key functionaries from various Local Government Units (LGUs), including treasurers and assessors.

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap expressed her support for Mr. Inas’ participation in this course, recognizing the importance of continuous learning and innovation in local governance.

“We believe that staying informed about global best practices is essential for driving positive change in our city. We are therefore, eager to integrate the insights and knowledge gained from this mission into our local strategies, ensuring that Tagbilaran remains at the forefront of progress,” Mayor Yap stated.

Mr. Inas’ representation in this program reflects the city’s dedication to adopting international best practices in governance and embracing innovative solutions for the benefit of Tagbilaran and its residents.
