CONGRATULATORY CELEBRATION

What a Success for Calape, for Bohol,

and for the Philippines!

Dr. Gaius Sulpicio G. Yu III is from Sta. Cruz, Calape, Bohol
but was born on December 13, 1997 here in Tagbilaran City.
He is the son of Dr. Sulpicio N. Yu, Jr, a Family Medicine
specialist in Calape, Bohol, and the current Vice-Mayor of the
Municipality of Calape and Grace Esperanza Garces-Yu
(deceased), former Miss Bohol runner-up. He is the youngest
among 4 siblings, namely, Gay Sophia Yu-Charley, a Nurse
Practitioner in California, USA; Gus Siegfred Yu, proprietor of
GSY Pharma; and Gayle Suzette Yu, a General Physician in
Calape, Bohol, and former Miss Philippines Earth – Bohol.

Dr. Gaius graduated from Calape Central Elementary School
as class valedictorian, class 2010. He reaped the same
honors when he again graduated valedictorian in the
secondary level from Tagbilaran City Science High School,
class 2014. He took up Bachelor of Science in Molecular
Biology and Biotechnology, from the University of the
Philippines, Diliman and graduated Magna Cum Laude from
class 2018. His Medical Course was at the St. Luke’s Medical
Center College of Medicine – William H. Quasha Memorial
(from 2018 to 2023) where he graduated Cum Laude ranking
Top 4 from Class 2023 and bringing home the title as Dean’s
Awardee.
He took the Physician Licensure Examinations on
October 2023 and was Top 10 Examinee.

An academic scholar during his studies at the St. Luke’s
Molecular Medicine Society, he became the CHAMPION of the
5th APMC-SN National Academics Competitions – National
Medical Quiz Bee, on April 10, 2022; and a SUCCESSFUL
PARTICIPANT in the International Symposium of Medical
Fiesta 2020 at the Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, Indonesia.
He represented his schoo in the Inter-Medical School
Physiology Quiz Bee, Universitas Indonesia,
Depok West
Java, held at Indonesia in August 2019.

His other achievements include his SUCCESS in the following
events: Dr. Agaton T. Panopio Jr. Inter-Medical Physiology
Quiz Bee 2019 (1st runner-up); SLMCCM-WHQM College
Sportsfest, October 2018 (as Second Placer, Ultimate
Frisbee); SLMCCM-WHQM College Sportsfest, October 2019
(as First Placer, Ultimate Frisbee) and as Most Valuable
Player
(Male Division, Ultimate Frisbee)
He was a Medical School Scholar, University Scholar,
College Scholar, Champion in Curricular and Co-Curricular
Competitions,
and Most Outstanding Graduate in High
School
giving to his family not less than 15 AWARDS. During
the Academic Festival of the UP Kadugong Bol-anon, he was
consistent FIRST PLACER in the Brain Scan Quiz Bowl;
SECOND PLACER in the Philippine Nuclear Science Quiz,
regional level; TOP 5 FINALIST in the Philippine Nuclear
Science Quiz, National Level, Nido Fortified Science Discovery
Center; TOP 5 FINALIST in the Philippine Nuclear Science
Quiz, National Level;
and many more.

During his elementary days, he received, among others, the
following awards: Most Outstanding Graduate, Best in English,
Best in Filipino, Best in Mathematics, Best in Science, Best in
Kasaysayan, Best in HeKaSi, Best in Leadership, and one of
the best Athletes of the Year
He wrote the following studies: Natural Food Production in
Brackishwater Ponds using Vermicasts as Fertilizer;
Computation Analysis of L-to-D Isomerization in Conotoxin
RXIA; Association Between Living in Proximity to the Rizal
Provincial Sanitary Landfill and Skin Conditions among
Children and Adolescents Aged 6-15 Years: A Cross-Sectional
Analytic Study Preventive and Community Medicine Research.
And the list is still long!
