Drug courier from Banacon Island nabbed in Dauis with P2-M shabu

DAUIS, BOHOL – A drug courier from Banacon Island in Getafe town was arrested
by the Dauis Police Municipal Drug Enforcement Team in a buy-bust operation on
Friday night, November 24, 2023, in Ward 1, Barangay Mariveles in this town.
The suspect was identified as Joselito Torremocha, 55, a resident of the said island.
He was caught selling shabu to an undercover police officer who posed as a buyer.
The police seized from Torremocha two large packs of shabu weighing 305 grams
with a street value of more than P2.07 million.
The confiscated drugs were turned over to the Bohol Provincial Crime Laboratory for
examination.
Torremocha is now detained at the Dauis Police Station and will face charges for
violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Dauis Police said Torremocha was a known drug courier who transported illegal
drugs from Banacon Island to Dauis and nearby towns.
He was also a high-value target of the police’s anti-drug campaign.

The buy-bust operation was conducted by the Dauis Police in coordination with the
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bohol Provincial Intelligence
Branch.
It was part of the ongoing efforts of the authorities to curb the drug problem in the
province.
