Bohol Police and LGU Catigbian give free houses to deserving families

CATIGBIAN, BOHOL – Four families in Barangay Mahayag Norte and Maitum received new houses from the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) and the local government unit (LGU) of Catigbian on November 22, 2023.

The housing project, dubbed as Project LAB (Libreng Alagad ug Balay), is an initiative of the BPPO in partnership with the Bohol Provincial Government and the LGU Catigbian. It aims to go beyond policing and providing security to the community by selecting deserving families to be granted with a housing benefaction.

The recipients of the houses are Ariel J. Emia and Arlyn A. Saguing from Maitum, and Mateo Calapuan and Nita Calapuan from Mahayag Norte. They were chosen based on their economic status, family size, and community involvement.

The turnover ceremony was attended by Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Municipal Mayor Elizabeth Mandin Pace, BPPO Provincial Director PCOL Lorenzo A Batuan, PMAJ Andie Corpuz, the deputy chief of PCADU Bohol PPO, SFO4 Lowell A Lumbab, RN BFP Catigbian, SSgt Neddie Duclayan, Mahayag Norte AFP Patrol Base, barangay officials and tanods of Barangay Maitum, and neighbors of Purok 7 Brgy Maitum.

The beneficiaries and their families expressed their gratitude to the BPPO, the provincial government, and the LGU Catigbian for the generous assistance. They also pledged to take good care of their new homes and to continue being productive members of the society.

Project LAB is one of the many programs of the BPPO that aim to foster a closer relationship between the police and the community. It also showcases the spirit of bayanihan and compassion among the Boholanos.
