TaRSIER 117, the operations and warning division of the Provincial Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Bohol, has once again proven its
excellence in public safety, as it received the award for the organization with the
most household members trained in basic life support for the second consecutive
year.
The award was given by the Department of Health Central Visayas during the 2nd
Central Visayas Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H)
Summit, held on November 30, 2023, at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu
City.
The summit aimed to recognize the best practices and achievements of the different
local government units, health facilities, and partner agencies in implementing
DRRM-H programs and activities in the region.
TaRSIER 117 was lauded for its efforts in conducting basic life support training to
various communities in Bohol, especially those in remote and vulnerable areas. The

training covered topics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and
emergency response.
The award was received by Mr. Jose AletoRequeron, the Head of TaRSIER 117,
and Mr.ArjayMigriño, the Head of the Emergency Management Section of TaRSIER
117.
Mr.Requeron expressed his gratitude to the DOH for the recognition and said that
the award serves as an inspiration for TaRSIER 117 to continue its mission of saving
lives and ensuring public safety.
Mr.Migriño said that the basic life support training is part of TaRSIER 117’s advocacy
to empower the people with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond to
emergencies and disasters.
He also thanked the PDRRMO, the provincial government, and the local officials for
their support and cooperation in the implementation of the training.
TaRSIER 117 is the 24/7 emergency hotline and response center of Bohol. It
provides assistance and coordination to various incidents such as fire, medical,
police, rescue, and disaster. It also conducts regular drills and simulations to
enhance the preparedness and capacity of the responders and the communities.
