Alburquerque Mayor Don Ritchie Buates

A new multi-purpose regional evacuation center opened in Alburquerque town on
Friday, Dec. 22, 2023.
Alburquerque Mayor Don Ritchie Buates led the inauguration and opening rites of
the said facility built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in
Central Visayas.
The said facility is strong enough to withstand strong winds from typhoons and is
resilient against strong aftershocks following a major earthquake, according to the
mayor.
The government spent around P30 million on the edifice, with the budget pegged
at P32 million, the mayor reported in a Facebook post.
The facility can be converted into a basketball playing court. The mayor also said
the town’s futsal team will also use the place as a practice facility.
Meanwhile, aside from the evacuation center, Alburquerque also inaugurated its
new municipal building. The new two-story building features an elevator to make

the offices inside the town hall more accessible to senior citizens and persons
with disabilities, according to the mayor.
Moreover, he said that some pieces of furniture and fixtures are yet to be
completely installed inside the said building.
In the same interview, Buates thanked Davao City third district representative
Isidro Ungab and Bohol first district representative Edgar Chatto for facilitating
fund sources for the projects in the said town.
During the inauguration, Cong. Chatto was represented by his daughter, Balilihan
Vice Mayor Trisha Chatto.
