The Provincial Government of Bohol LTFRB
The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) has completed the crafting of its
Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) that is compliant with the new rules
and regulations of the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.
In a report from the Capitol, the Provincial Development Council (PDC) approved
the endorsement of the province’s LPTRP to the Land Transportation Franchising
and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Lawyer John Titus Vistal, head of the Provincial Planning and Development Office
(PPDO), presented the LPTRP during the PDC meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19,
2023.
It was during the PDC meeting, presided over by Provincial Administrator Asteria
Caberte, that the council gave the green light for the plan to be endorsed to the
LTFRB.
If the LTFRB approves the LPTRP, Bohol will be the first province in the country
to comply with the national government’s public utility modernization program.
The PPDO chief said that the LPTRP is a plan outlining the transportation network
in the province, identifying specific modes of transportation and required number
of units per mode for delivering land transport services.
Moreover, Vistal added that the plan is the basis for the minimum requirement
prescribed for the issuance of public utilty vehicle (PUV) franchises.
The plan will also address transport concerns, especially on intra-province routes
for specific PUVs.
The formulation of the plan was in response to the direction of the PGBh to those
who are interested to do business in the transport sector.
