ROYAL RUMBLE: MAN KILLS SNAKE IN A FIGHT

It is not something you read in the news all the time. A 48-year-old man wrestled
with a snake and prevailed, killing the animal in the process, according to a radio
report.
The man, identified as Boljulio Aleria, of barangay Cabayugan in Calape town,
was driving his motorcycle when a reticulated python, known in Visayan as
“baksan” blocked his way in barangay Quinapon-an, Antequera town at 2 a.m. on
Dec. 19, 2023.
Reports say the snake was at least 3 meters long and had a body size similar to
that of a large beer bottle.
The man thought the snake was just crossing the road but the animal quickly
wrapped him and started to squeeze hard. Reports say the snake also bit the
human’s hand and arm.
Aleria fought back and wrestled with the snake for at least 10 minutes until the
latter was killed by the former.
The man was brought to a hospital in Tagbilaran City for treatment following his
unusual tryst with a python.
The baksan is not a venomous kind of snake unlike the Philippine cobra or the
“banacon”, as it is known locally.
