No major untoward incident recorded in Bohol during New Year celebration: Lt. Col. Nuez

Lt. Col. Norman Nuez

Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) spokesman Lt. Col. Norman Nuez said there was no major untoward incident recorded in Bohol during the New Year celebration.

The winning streak of BPPO continued as there were no major incidents that happened in the province during the celebration of Christmas a week ago.

Despite the firecracker sale ban in Tagbilaran City, there were some reports of crafty merchants who managed to sell some pyrotechnics within the city.

Nuez said there are towns near Tagbilaran City where firecracker sale is allowed, just like in the town of Baclayon.

Ths availability of firecrackers in these towns allowed people from the city and other places in Bohol to acquire firecrackers to be used during the New Year celebration, observers say.

Meanwhile, until around 3 am of Jan. 1, 2024, no person was rushed to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital due to firecracker use.
