Tagbilaran Bishop Alberto Uy sees that new year 2024 will be filled with hope, as he urges the Catholic faithful to pray more often to God.
This was the message of the prelate of Tagbilaran during the vigil mass for the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, on the evening of December 31, 2023.
The said mass was also broadcast live through the official Facebook page of The Tagbilaran Cathedral.
In his homily, he said people should be thankful for all the blessings and graces they have received.
People, he said, should be thankful that they are not sick or in the middle of conflicts.
The people should remain thankful even if God has not granted the petitions they seek.
He said that there must be a reason why God did not grant some of our petitions to him.
It is possible that God is protecting us from danger, which is why some of our requests are not granted.
He also expressed gladness that some people chose to spend the last moments of 2023 worshipping God by attending the vigil mass.
“Gisugdan nato ang bag-ong tuig sa pagsimba sa Diyos, pagkanindot. Nia na ta sa tuig 2024, tingali daghan pa ta [ug] gipangayo sa Ginoo, nga hangtud karon wala pa nato madawat. Pero mga igsoon, dili ta angay magmahay kay basin sa kadaot iya [ang Ginoo] lang ta gilikay,” the bishop said in his homily.
He also urged the faithful to pray more often in order to stay away from evil. He urged the people to pray the Rosary often.
Moreover, he talked about the dangers of social media and the internet and urged family members to bond sans the gadgets.
