Ubujan multipurpose building and stage blessed

The Ubujan multipurpose building and stage, amidst a joyous celebration marked by community spirit and dedication, were officially turned over and blessed in a ceremony held on January 22, 2024.

The event, graced by the presence of Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, marked the introduction of a versatile facility that will serve the barangay in various activities and capacities.

The infrastructure project, spearheaded by the barangay council of Ubujan led by punong barangay Mary Jane Ruiz, shows its commitment to enhancing public spaces fostering a sense of togetherness.

The blessing was officiated by Rev. Fr. Elias Algabre, parish priest of San Antonio de Padua  Parish-Ubujan.  

Also present during the activity were Engr. Franz Sarabia of the Department of Public Works and Highways First Engineering District (DPWH -I), representative of the 3K Construction, sangguniang barangay and sangguniang kabataan officials, barangay health workers and stakeholders.

During the ceremony, Mayor Yap commended barangay captain Ruiz and the sangguniang barangay of Ubujan for their initiative in spearheading the project, highlighting the importance of such community-driven endeavors.

“The completion of the Ubujan multipurpose building and stage demonstrates the fact that essential infrastructure can benefit the community in multiple ways. This facility is designed not only as a multipurpose hall but also as a vital evacuation center during times of need,” Mayor Yap stated.

The Ubujan multipurpose building and stage located at the barangay covered court is poised to become a dynamic hub for community engagement, cultural enrichment, and a safe haven during times of crisis.

Its construction reflects the shared vision of the barangay leaders and residents to create a space that promotes unity and community engagement.

LGU Tagbilaran inks pact with PNP, TCPS and NAPOLCOM for community-oriented policing

The City Government of Tagbilaran, the Tagbilaran City Police Station, the Tagbilaran City People’s Council (TCPC), and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) joined forces in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony held at the City Mayor’s Office on January 24, 2024 to foster closer ties between law enforcement and the community.

City Mayor Jane Yap, City Chief of Police Homobuno Sayon, TCPC President Marietta Gasatan, and NAPOLCOM Provincial Officer Atty. Peter Bill Elizalde, affixed their signatures on the document  showing the agreement that formalized the commitment to implement Community and Service-Oriented Policing (CSOP) and Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Planning strategies within Tagbilaran City.

Mayor Yap, addressing the significance of this collaboration, stated, “This MOA symbolizes our collective dedication to a safer and more engaged community. By embracing community-oriented policing strategies, we are fostering a sense of shared responsibility for public safety and well-being.”

The MOA signing ceremony was witnessed by City Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer Juliet Olalo, Atty. Lord Marapao IV, as well as esteemed community leaders including Pastor Reysam Carvero, Pastor Michael Viernes, and Pastor Crisostomo Arausa.

The MOA signing marks the beginning of collaborative efforts to adopt CSOP framework to bolster coordination and cooperation among the citizenry, local executives and integrated law enforcers and public safety agencies through program or project complementation, including sharing of information, funds, personnel, and logistics.

This partnership is also geared towards the development of a POPS Plan/Integrated Area/Community Public Safety Plan (IACPSP) in accordance with the guidelines that will be provided by DILG.

This strategic alliance among the City Government, Police Station, TCPC, and NAPOLCOM reflects a commitment to building a safer, more vibrant, and community-centric Tagbilaran City.

The representatives of the City Government of Tagbilaran, Tagbilaran City People’s Council (TCPC), Tagbilaran City Police Station, and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) come together for a significant Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing to implement the program of the Community and Service Oriented Policing (CSOP) and Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) within Tagbilaran City.
