Tagbilaran City Police Station unveils anti-cybercrime desk

A significant step in bolstering cybersecurity efforts within Tagbilaran City unfolds as the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) inaugurated its new Anti-Cybercrime Desk during a ceremony attended by Mayor Jane Yap on January 26, 2024.

The event also saw the official turnover of essential office equipment to support the desk’s operations.

The TCPS, under the leadership of Chief of Police PLt.Col. Homobuno Sayon, hosted the opening ceremony, marking a crucial development in the city’s efforts to combat cyber threats.

City Mayor Yap, recognizing the increasing significance of cybersecurity, graced the event and personally turned over the necessary equipment to support the operations of the newly established Anti-Cybercrime Desk.

“In this digital age, combating cybercrime is a priority to ensure the safety and security of our residents. The establishment of the Anti-Cybercrime Desk is a proactive measure to address the challenges posed by cyber threats,” Mayor Yap emphasized during her address.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including PCol. Fidel Fortaleza Jr, Chief of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) Central Visayas; PLt. Jumark Caña, Assistant Chief RACU7; and PLt. Aileen Marie Remedio of Bohol PNP.

Their participation underscored the collaborative effort between the local police force and regional authorities in safeguarding the city from cyber threats.

The inauguration ceremony included a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, blessing of the new facility, and a tour of the Anti-Cybercrime Desk.

The TCPS aims to enhance its capacity to investigate and address various cybercrimes, including online fraud, identity theft, and other cyber threats.

As Tagbilaran City fortifies its defenses against cyber threats, the establishment of the Anti-Cybercrime Desk represents a significant stride towards a safer and more secure digital environment for its residents.

The collaboration between local and regional authorities signals a united front against cybercrime, underscoring the commitment to creating a resilient and technologically secure city.

City Traffic Enforcers equip themselves for all-weather duty

Mayor Jane Yap, recognizing the dedication and hard work of the Tagbilaran City Traffic Management Office (TCTMO), took a proactive step in ensuring the well-being of traffic enforcers by distributing to them, raincoats on January 27, 2024.  

The raincoat distribution, held at the TCTMO located at the old city building, was attended by Mayor Yap, who personally handed over the raincoats to the dedicated traffic management personnel.

The mayor expressed her appreciation for the essential role traffic enforcers play in maintaining order on the city’s roads.

“Rain or shine, our traffic enforcers are out there, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of our residents. Providing them with raincoats is a small yet significant way of showing our gratitude for their hard work and dedication,” Mayor Yap remarked during the distribution event.

The raincoats, equipped with reflective materials for added visibility, are expected to enhance the safety and comfort of the traffic enforcers as they perform their duties, especially during inclement weather.

The initiative aligns with the city’s broader efforts to invest in the welfare of its personnel, recognizing the importance of their role in maintaining the city’s order and safety.

Members of the Tagbilaran City Traffic Management Office expressed their gratitude for the mayor’s thoughtful gesture, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on their ability to carry out their responsibilities effectively, regardless of weather conditions.

As the raincoats were distributed, Mayor Yap reiterated her commitment to supporting the city’s personnel and ensuring they have the necessary tools and equipment to perform their duties efficiently.

The event stands as a symbol of the city’s recognition of the vital contributions of its traffic enforcers and its dedication to fostering a safe and supportive working environment.
