The president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) of Balilihan, Absalon Diez, strongly denied the allegation that one of the barangay captains in Hanopol tested positive for illegal drugs.
The allegation was posted on social media by Ricky Madanguit, who claimed that there was a drug test conducted during a moving up ceremony for drug surrenderies in Hanopol last Tuesday.
In an exclusive interview with DYTR News, Diez said he was shocked and dismayed by Madanguit’s accusation, which he said was baseless and malicious.
He clarified that the activity held in Hanopol was only a graduation ceremony for the drug surrenderies who completed the community-based rehabilitation program.
No drug test was conducted during the event, Diez said.
He also challenged Madanguit to name the barangay captain who allegedly tested positive for drugs, and to present evidence to back up his claim.
Diez said Madanguit’s allegation has tarnished the reputation of the 10 barangay captains of Hanopol, who he said are all dedicated and responsible public servants.
He added that he will call a special meeting with all the barangay captains of Hanopol to discuss the issue and to plan their legal action against Madanguit.
He also assured the public that all the barangays in Balilihan are strictly monitoring and preventing any drug-related activities in their areas.
He said the ABC is fully supportive of the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
