A joint buy-bust operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bohol, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Bohol Maritime Police Station, Maribojoc Police and Naval Forces Central-7 resulted in the arrest of one of the top six regional drug targets in Bohol early Thursday morning, Feb. 15, 2024.
The suspect, identified as Godfrey Tare y Brocero, 43, of Barangay Poblacion in Loay town, was caught with 21 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing about 105 grams and worth around 714,000 pesos in the street market.
The operation took place around 1 a.m. in Barangay Aliguay, Maribojoc, where Tare was staying temporarily. He was reportedly under surveillance for several weeks before the authorities decided to conduct the sting operation.
According to PDEA Bohol, Tare is a high-value individual who is involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in the province and nearby areas. He is also linked to a drug group operating in Central Visayas.
The operation was witnessed by a barangay official of Aliguay, a representative from the Department of Justice and members of the media.
Tare is now under the custody of PDEA Bohol and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
