Presenting: CELINE ALVEONA MARCOS, the Boholana performer at the Mall of Asia Arena, Manila

Of course, you have heard of The Tabernacle Choir Philippine Tour. During the performance, you would just wonder how much work went into staging the shows here in our country.  Worthy of our attention, among others, are the people “who happily went the extra mile in doing their jobs.” And one of them is a Boholana, who played the role of NARRATOR.  She is Celine Alveona Chavez Marcos, the daughter of businessman Rodolfo Tomas Marcos and Judge Jennifer Chavez Marcos.

Presently, Celine is a freshman student at the University of Santo Tomas (Manila) taking up Bachelor of Music major in Piano Performance. She spent her elementary days at the Victoriano D.Tirol Advanced Learning Center where she graduated as an honor student grabbing the Athlete of the Year and  Leadership Awards. Her secondary schooling was done at the Tagbilaran City Science High School, again, graduating with honors. She also garnered the  “Music Artist of the Year” award in 2018 at the Herliz Music Studio, here in the city.

Yes, Celine participated in the Tabernacle Choir Concert with Lea Salonga as one of the guest performers. How did Celine become a participant in that national event? She auditioned for the role and

was chosen as one of the six narrators out of about 30 young people who tried their best for the said part. The other narrators who passed the audition with Celine were: Xia Vigor – a child actress; Keon Serrano, Jana Molina, Stephen Bamba and Brio Divinagracia who are all from Metro Manila.

Celine has a younger sibling – a brother, Alphonse Rojen Marcos. When asked how the parents would describe the daughter, both said: “She is a jolly teener, loving daughter, caring sister. loyal friend. She is responsible, diligent, reliable, brave but kind and most of all, an obedient child of God.”

Celine, whose birthday falls on the 31st of May, loves her piano, crocheting, and going to the taekwondo gym. She is a black belter for that matter. And she is a big fan of Kpop, too.

What’s her big dream? She wants to be a concert pianist. But farther ahead, be a lawyer like her mom.

About The Concert

Articles have it that the visit to the Philippines of the singing group was the second on the Choir’s “Hope” World Tour, which kicked of in June 2023 in Mexico.
Reviews of the event claim that the concerts in the Philippines were a success on several fronts. One writer said: “The Choir also sought to reach the rising generation in the Philippines. Some 50 youth performed with popular singer-songwriter Ysabelle Cuevas, singing ‘If You Believe’, a song about belief in Jesus Christ.”

Reliable sources say, the Choir’s next stop on its “Hope” world tour will be in the United States’ Florida and Georgia for concerts September 5–12, 2024.Congratulations, Celine!
