IBP-BOHOL CHAPTER HOLDS 2024 ORIENTATION OF NEW LAWYERS
After a successful 2024 Honoring of New Lawyers last 01 March 2024 with Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh as Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker, IBP-Bohol Chapter, hosted this year’s Orientation of New Lawyers yesterday, 16 March 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Topaz Aquamarine Hall, MetroCentre Hotel and Convention Center, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The activity was intended to provide newest members of the legal profession an overview about lawyering and IBP as an institution, to provide them insights on basic duties and functions of a lawyer as an officer of the court, and to let them hear lawyers from different sectors for them to be better informed of the career path they will traverse in the years to come.
After the Invocation, National Anthem, Awit sa Bohol, and IBP Hymn, yours truly delivered the Welcome Remarks. This was followed by a “Talk About the IBP-National and IBP-Bohol Chapter” by Immediate Past President Atty. Licelle D. Zamora. Atty. Adeline L. Glovasa, former IBP-Bohol Secretary and Partner of Glovasa Laga & Uy Law Offices, delivered a Lecture on “How to be a Notary Public: Best Practices in Notarial Practice and Honesto Notario Memorandum”. To break the ice, an Intermission Number was delivered by a member of the 2023 Hernando Bar Passers, Atty. Kimberly Mae D. Gango.
The Lectures resumed with Hon. Adolfo M. Doroy, Assistant City Prosecutor of Tagbilaran City, delivering a Lecture entitled “Inspiring New Lawyers to Joint Government Service and Handling Cases Before the Prosecutor’s Office: Do’s and Don’ts and What to Expect During Preliminary Investigation/Clarificatory Hearing”. Atty. John Jeric S. Lim, IBP-Bohol Vice President and Chairperson of the IBP Legal Aid Committee discussed his topic “Sink-or-Swim: How to Survive in Private Practice”. Atty. Ruby Rose R. Maligmat-Guimerey, IBP-Bohol Director, delivered the Closing Remarks. The event was hosted by Atty. Jervis Clifford C. Vertulfo, IBP-Bohol Director.
