Town News-JAGNA

In a significant stride towards sustainable energy and economic development, Mayor Joseph Rañola (left) of Jagna, officially signed a loan agreement on March 20, 2024 with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). The loan, amounting to 96.5 million Pesos, is earmarked to finance the forthcoming 2-megawatt Solar Power Farm Project in the town. The ambitious initiative spearheaded by Mayor Rañola aims to tackle the pressing issue of soaring electricity costs while advancing renewable energy solutions. The signing ceremony, held at the municipal hall, was attended by key stakeholders including Vice Mayor Teofisto P. Pagar Jr., members of the Local Finance Committee of LGU Jagna, and the Renewable Energy Project team led by Camilo Rizano. “This project is a testament to our commitment to sustainable development and energy efficiency,” stated Mayor Rañola during the signing event. He also said: “With the support of our partners and stakeholders, we are poised to revolutionize our energy landscape and pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for Jagna.” The 2MW Solar Power Farm Project not only promises to alleviate the burden of high electricity costs but also holds significant potential for attracting investments. Already gained interest from investors, including the provincial government, underscores the project’s viability and economic prospects. Mayor Rañola also mentioned the endeavor of realizing the Wind Farm Project since the town of Jagna has a gift from nature for strong wind. Why Jagna should have both Solar and Wind Farm? So that there would be a balance for sustainability through hybrid-production, per the Mayor. With the loan secured and support from various stakeholders, including investors and government entities, the 2MW Solar Power Farm Project is poised to become a beacon of sustainable development and innovation in the province of Bohol. As construction commences, anticipation grows for the realization of Mayor Rañola’s bold vision for Jagna’s energy future. Contributed photo
