Mayor Yap leads turnover of new classrooms and speech laboratory 

Mayor Jane Yap spearheaded the turnover ceremony of four state-of-the-art classrooms at the Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School (TCCES) and a cutting-edge speech laboratory at Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School-Senior High School (DCPNHS-SHS) in Barangay Cabawan on March 12, 2024. 

The four brand-new classrooms at TCCES are furnished with essential amenities such as air conditioning units, multimedia TVs, blackboards, and book cabinets. 

 In addition to the classrooms, the inauguration of a cutting-edge speech laboratory at DCPNHS-SHS further demonstrates Tagbilaran’s progressive approach to education. 

The state-of-the-art laboratory is equipped with an array of modern technology, including computer sets, headset microphones, operating systems, software tools, speakers, and audiovisual equipment. 

This innovative facility is poised to revolutionize the way students learn and interact with language and communication skills.

Mayor Yap emphasized the importance of providing students with access to top-notch educational facilities and resources to support their academic growth and development. 

“I am proud to witness the fruition of our efforts in providing our students of Tagbilaran City with conducive learning environments and cutting-edge facilities. These new classrooms and the state-of-the-art speech laboratory represent our city’s unwavering commitment to quality education. We believe that investing in our youth today will shape a brighter future for Tagbilaran tomorrow,” Mayor Yap remarked. 

The City Government of Tagbilaran remains committed to providing modern classrooms and advanced learning facilities to enhance the quality of education.  

It reflects the city’s vision of empowering its youth with the tools needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

Tagbilaran wraps up celebration of Women’s Month

Mayor Jane Yap led the City Government of Tagbilaran in a day-long event to culminate the 2024 National Women’s Month celebration, held on March 22, 2024, at the Saulog Gym.

The gathering brought together over 400 women representing various sectors, including department heads and employees of the City Government; employees, officers and representatives of the City Women’s Association in the 15 barangays; members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI); Muslim women’s groups; and women with disabilities.

Mayor Yap delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing the city’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment. 

She remarked, “Today, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women from all walks of life. It is a testament to our city’s dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering women to reach their full potential.”

Mayor Yap also presented her first-year report on Gender and Development initiatives. She also officiated the oath-taking ceremony of the Officers of the Tagbilaran City Garments Manufacturers’ Association.

The event featured educational sessions, including a talk by Dr. Joan Llanos on the Impact of Good Grooming and Personality in Women’s Empowerment; followed by a Basic Make-Up tutorial by the City Glam Team. 

Meanwhile, City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

A Philippine Folk Dance Contest was also part of the program, with barangay Taloto emerging as the champion. Barangay Dampas secured second place, while barangay Mansasa claimed third place.

Winners of the Women’s Bazaar were also announced with barangay Poblacion 3 winning the Best Dressed Booth award; barangay Taloto receiving the Most Innovative award; KBoom/Egay’s Farm honored with the Green Product award; barangay Booy adjudged as having the Cleanest Booth; and barangay Mansasa securing the highest sales during the event. 

The event concluded with a captivating “Women Through the Ages” Fashion Show, showcasing the diverse roles and stages of life experienced by women. 

Models adorned in gowns from the collections of Rose Paul Silhouette, with accessories from the City Livelihood and Community Development Office, represented various stages of womanhood – from childhood to senior citizenship.

Models showing the different stages of womanhood were: Day Care pupil Glaze Mae Bustamante; Elementary pupil Khyra Triezha Cruz of Cogon Elementary School; Learner with Difficulty in Hearing Ashley Shane Espejo of the Tagbilaran City Central School SPED Center, High School student and Miss Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School Intrams 2023 Min Sun Jang; College student and Miss Tagbilaran City College 2023 Princess Mae Janiola; Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2023 Flaviona Joaquin; pregnant woman Ethelyn Maratas-Relator of Barangay Poblacion 2; Tagbilaran City Government Employee Evelyn Janiola-Bompat of the Sangguniang Panlungsod; City Councilor Gemma Manding-Inting; and Senior Citizen Lourdes Villamor-Flores of Barangay Poblacion 3.
