UB unveils new kiddie pool and renovated Olympic-size swimming facility

UB unveils new kiddie pool and renovated Olympic-size swimming facility Promoting wellness across all age groups, the University of Bohol has expanded its existing sports facilities with the addition of a new 25-meter kiddie pool adjacent to its newly renovated Olympic-size swimming pool at the Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr. (VBT Jr.) Aquatic Center, located within the Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (VDT ALC) Campus in Taloto District, Tagbilaran City.

The formal inauguration of the two aquatic facilities occurred on April 5, 2024 , at the VBT Jr. Aquatic Center. Pastor Manuel Lupio I, officiating minister, presided over the dedication and blessing of the aquatic facilities alongside UB President Victoriano B. Tirol, III. The event drew notable personalities from the City Government of Tagbilaran, including Former City Mayor and Chief of Staff John Geesnel “Baba” Yap, who represented City Mayor Jane Yap. Also in attendance were Mr. Melvin Salinasal and Kelvin John Bongato of the Provincial Youth Development Office, Atty. Marlumina Teh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Rian Marco Tirol, former team captain of the UB Rockets Swimming Team and current captain of FAST Ateneo Swimming Team and SEA Games Medalist, along with College Deans, Department Heads, parents, and students.

During his address, UB President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III, emphasized that this recent development underscores the university’s commitment to nurturing young talent, recognizing the significance of starting swimming education from an early stage. Over time, the VBT Jr. Olympic-size swimming pool has become a hub for various local, national, and international swimming competitions, enhancing Bohol’s reputation for producing top-tier swimmers who bring pride and honor to the island province, city, and university.
