The theme: “KABILIN SA KASAYSAYAN, KASAULOGAN SA KULTURA UG KALAMBOAN” bannered the streets and homes of barangay Taguihon in Baclayon, Bohol as it celebrated its 124th Founding Anniversary on Saturday, April 6, 2024 with main activities held at the Taguihon Basketball Court..

The voices of the three (3) editors of TRENDING of The Bohol Tribune echoed in the different areas as they started hosting the program at 8:00 p.m. The three are Chandymar Araneta Batoy, Ardy Ines Araneta – Batoy and Gloria Leodivica Ines Araneta.

The Immaculate Conception Parish Chambers (ICPCS) singers led the singing of the invocatory song, the Philippine National Anthem, Awit sa Bohol and the Baclayon Hymn. This number was followed by the welcome address of Taguihon Punong Barangay, Ulyses M. Tomarong who is also the Vice President of the Baclayon Chapter of the Federation of Punong Barangay.

Atty. Alvin Uy, ECE who is the Municipal Mayor of Baclayon, also delivered his message through his representative Hon. Romulo Caballo, District Councilor. Then, Vice Governor Dionisio Balite shared his thoughts about the event as he also represented Gov. Aris Aumentado.

The opening salvo of the dance presentation was performed by the Taguihon Barangay Officials and appointed personnel.  This was followed by the message of Bohol’s First District Representative, Atty. Edgar Chatto represented by a Board Member of the first district, Hon.  Aldner Damalerio. Another board member delivered her address in the person of Hon. Lucille Lagunay followed by the speech of Board Member Lawyer Hon. Venzencio Arcamo.

Before Part II of the activities was presented, Taguihon’s historian and respected resident, ERIC CAÑETE related the story of the founding of the barangay. It was a very interesting number in the program as the guests and participants came to realize how Taguihon came into being.

The different songs and dances from the various PUROK and adjoining barangays followed and all these gave true life and color to the celebration. (More photos of the celebration on Page 2 of TRENDING).
