Bohol First District Rep. Atty. Edgar M. Chatto has publicly denied any involvement in the recruitment process for the new Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Multi-Specialty Medical Center in Cortes town, Bohol.
The statement was made during a broadcast of Ardy Araneta-Batoy’s public affairs program aired over dyTR on April 26, 2024.
The congressman emphasized that the hiring procedures are exclusively managed by the hospital’s administration and that his office plays no role in it.
“The Gallares hospital in Tagbilaran operates independently from the Cortes staff, each with its own screening process,” Chatto stated.
The clarification came after a Willy Ramasola-backed Facebook page “The Bohol Maritess” known for attacking Chatto suggested that job applications for the Cortes facility should be submitted through the congressman’s office.
This claim was quickly debunked by internet users who recognized the post as fraudulent.
Chatto, who was instrumental in the creation of the Cortes medical facility, designed to serve patients with heart, lung, and kidney conditions locally, reiterated the center’s commitment to reducing the need for travel to larger cities for specialized care.
The congressman is credited with authoring the legislation that established the Multi-Specialty Medical Center, which was signed into law by former President Rodrigo Duterte on June 29, 2022.
