Tribu Bol-anon triumphs at Powerful Daegu Festival in South Korea

Tribu Bol-anon, represented by the Tagbilaran City contingent, won the Best Global Award at the prestigious 2024 Powerful Daegu Festival, held on May 10-12, 2024 in Daegu Metropolitan City, South Korea.

In a dazzling display of artistry and tradition, Tribu Bol-anon captivated the audience and judges with their colorful costumes and vibrant choreography. Their performance was a beautiful fusion of Bohol’s iconic festivals, Saulog Tagbilaran and Sandugo sa Bohol.

Competing against 94 other contingents from various countries, Tribu Bol-anon’s presentation stood out for its creativity and authenticity.

The delegation was led by Tagbilaran City Administrator Cathy Torremocha, Mr. Alexis Cadeliña of the City Events, Culture, and Arts Office, Mr. Emerson Pinos and Mr. Roland Icban of the Bohol Center for Culture and Arts Development.

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap expressed her pride and joy over the contingent’s achievements, stating, “Tribu Bol-anon’s success at the Powerful Daegu Festival is a testament to the vibrant culture and immense talent of our people. This recognition not only brings honor to our city of Tagbilaran and the province of Bohol but also strengthens our cultural ties with other nations. We are incredibly proud of our delegates.”

The Powerful Daegu Festival is organized by the Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations of Daegu with the objective of strengthening international cultural exchange with contingents and judges from different parts of the world.

This year’s delegates included participants from Taiwan, Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other delegations from the Philippines. Amidst such diverse and talented competition, Tribu Bol-anon’s performances were consistently lauded, earning them a place of honor among the best.

Tribu Bol-anon’s participation in the festival was supported by the City Government of Tagbilaran, Provincial Government of Bohol and barangay Tiptip of Tagbilaran City.
