Beneficiaries in the first district were among first in the country to receive financial assistance through the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).

Cong. Edgar Chatto said the district made history by joining the nationwide launch of one of the new programs of “Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Mukha” through President Bongbong Marcos (PBBM) and strongly supported by Congress led by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

First district beneficiaries gathered at the Assemblyman Eladio I. Chatto Sports and Cultural Center in Balilihan on May 18.

The flagship program, benefiting poor, near poor and low income workers affected by present financial challenges, is implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian in coordination with Cong. Chatto’s office.

It will be a mainstay in the Bagong Pilipinas governance portfolio of PBBM.

According to Cong. Chatto, more beneficiaries will be identified and given the financial aid in the coming months for the first district.

“Our office is in close partnership with the DSWD as well as with the LGUs in the implementation of the program,” he said.

DSWD staff facilitated the payout of Php 3,000 cash aid to help supplement the daily needs of the beneficiaries.

Individuals in the low-income category whose income does not exceed the statutory minimum wage set by DOLE’s Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) are the beneficiaries of AKAP, which includes seasonal workers, tricycle and jeepney drivers, laborers, household helpers, street and market vendors, fishermen, and farmers, among others.
