Winners of Saulog 2024 Photo Contest unveiled at exhibit

The vibrant spirit and cultural heritage of Saulog Tagbilaran were celebrated through the lens of local photographers at the Saulog Tagbilaran 2024 Photo Exhibit and Awarding Ceremonies, held on May 20, 2024, at the Activity Center, Island City Mall.

The event showcased the winning photos that beautifully captured the festive, colorful, and emotional essence of the celebration in honor of St. Joseph the Worker, the patron saint of Tagbilaran City.

The ceremony commenced with a ribbon-cutting event led by Mayor Jane Yap, Vice Mayor Adam Jala, and Photo Contest Committee officials Sherwin Sapong and Chester Impang, marking the official opening of the photo exhibit.

The dignitaries then proceeded to award the winners of the photo contest.

Mayor Jane Yap expressed her admiration for the participants, stating, “The talent and creativity displayed in these photographs are truly inspiring. They beautifully captured the spirit of Saulog Tagbilaran and the deep devotion of our people to St. Joseph the Worker.”

The photo contest featured two categories: Contingent and Street.

In the Contingent category, entries focused on groups or individuals participating in the official street dancing performances.

The Street category, on the other hand, highlighted photos taken during the street dancing competition, emphasizing themes of celebration, worship, and religious rituals in honor of St. Joseph.

Entries in this category could feature solo or group shots or any Saulog Festival activities such as processions or church events.

The Tagbilaran City Council for Culture and the Arts (TCCCA) Photography Committee pre-screened and pre-selected the entries.

From the top 20 photos in each category, judges selected the top ten winners.

For the ten winners in the contingent category, the first place prize was P8,000; second place, P6,000; third place, P4,000; and the rest of the winners, P1,000 each.

For the ten winners in the street category, the first place prize was P5,000; second place, P4,000; third place, P3,000; and the rest of the winners, P1,000 each.

The Saulog Tagbilaran 2024 Photo Exhibit will be open to the public at Island City Mall, allowing visitors to appreciate the artistry and cultural heritage of Tagbilaran City through the captivating photographs.

LGU Tagbilaran brings its services to Tiptip

In its continuing effort to bring essential services directly to the people, the City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a comprehensive mobile services program in Barangay Tiptip on May 17, 2024.

This initiative, championed by Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, reflects the city’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement, ensuring that vital services are within  all residents’ reach.

The primary highlight of the day was the Mobile Health Clinic, where residents accessed a wide array of medical services, including general consultations, ultrasound tests, cardiac panels, ECGs, blood typing, X-rays, and complete blood counts (CBC).

The Mobile Dental Bus complemented this by providing dental consultations and dental extractions, ensuring comprehensive healthcare services.

Mayor Yap emphasized the significance of this mobile services program, stating, “Bringing essential services directly to our barangays ensures that every resident has access to the support they need. This initiative is about inclusivity and making sure no one is left behind. Our mobile services program is a testament to our commitment to serving the community and addressing their immediate needs.”

The “Basura sa Barangay” program has gained significant popularity, allowing residents to exchange plastic bottles for rice.

This initiative fosters a community-driven commitment to waste reduction while providing tangible benefits.

The exchange rates are structured as follows: 50 pieces of Sakto size, 40 pieces of 350ml and below, 30 pieces of 500ml, 20 pieces of 1L, 15 pieces of 1.5L or 2L, and 10 pieces of 5L and above, all equivalent to 1 kilogram of rice.

Other services available are legal assistance, late registrations of live births, petitions for corrections of clerical errors in registry documents, on-site registration of the National ID-Senior Citizen-PWD-ALS, distribution of vegetable seeds, rabies vaccination for dogs and cats, free haircut and massage, and free hair color for Senior Citizens.

 Hot meals in partnership with DIWA Partylist were also provided to all attendees.

Residents of Barangay Tiptip led by Punong Barangay Jeminador Lantape and the barangay council expressed their sincere gratitude to the City Government for the accessibility of these essential services.

The City Government of Tagbilaran, through initiatives like this mobile services program, continues to demonstrate its dedication to improving the quality of life for its residents.

By addressing health, legal, environmental, and social needs in one coordinated effort, the city is paving the way for a more connected and resilient Tagbilaran.

The Tagbilaran City Government, led by Mayor Jane Yap, remains committed to delivering comprehensive Mobile Services in the City.

This was proven when said services were delivered to the residents of Barangay Tiptip on May 17, 2024.

This initiative demonstrates a strong dedication to ensuring that essential services reach the community directly, making a positive impact on the lives of the people.
