The lecture tackled RA 9165 (the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) and the negative effects of illegal drugs in order to raise awareness among the people about drug abuse among our youth and community. Subsequently, Pastor James Dumanon also gave a lecture to the same students about mental health awareness and related his personal story of overcoming addiction to drugs and alcohol. This activity was initiated by Local Government Unit Antequera led by our municipal mayor, Hon. Jose Mario J. Pahang (in photo, holding a microphone), Mrs. Lou Marie Jumamil, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and in collaboration with DepEd school teachers of the aforesaid schools. The purpose of this symposium is to inform and educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse and misuse as well as how to withstand drug-related temptations. It also exhorts young people to lead healthy lifestyles and stimulates everyone to actively engage in initiatives aimed at preventing drug abuse. Additionally, we are urging the public to support this program since we believe that a peaceful community serves as the cornerstone of a strong nation. It will also support the future development of a drug-free community within our society. Contributed photo
