The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) conferred the Gold Tamaraw Award to BSP Bohol Council chair Cong. Edgar Chatto during the 67th Annual National Council Meeting in Zamboanga City.

Council Scout Executive Hermes Angoy handed over the award to Chatto during the BSP Bohol Board meeting on June 6, 2024.

“Thank you for the honor and recognition. I humbly share this Gold Tamaraw Award to all Scouters provincewide led by our BSP Bohol Council Executive Board, Council Scout Executive and staff. To God be the Glory,” he posted on his official social media page.

Chatto was distinguished for his unceasing efforts and exceptionally meritorious contributions to the Scout Movement and for being one of the primordial foundation of a great institution devoted to the development and growth of the young people and adult leaders. He is the total embodiment of a true Scout and the epitome of the ideals of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, the citation read.

His selfless efforts and decisive actions are in keeping with the finest tradition of the Scout Movement and manifest distinct credit upon himself and the BSP, the award said.

During the meeting, the BSP Bohol Council also conducted the election and oath taking of new officers and members of the Board.

Executive Judge Lindy Arcamo administered the Oath of Office and delivered an inspirational message.

For 2024, Chatto retained his position as council chairman. Meanwhile, Rene Relampagos and Tagbilaran City Councilor Atoy Torralba serve as 1st and 2nd vice chairman, respectively.

Elected council treasurer was Rodney Lumuthang with Lorna Arances as assistant; George Lim as auditor and San Isidro Mayor Diosdado Gementiza, Jr. as assistant; Schools Division Superintendents Dr. Casiana Caberte and Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos as Council Scout Commissioner; and Rev. Fr. Ruel Lero as Council Chaplain.

The BSP Bohol Council is slated to conduct a Scouts of the World Award Orientation Survival and Advancement Camp on June 18-20.

It also scheduled Basic Training Courses for Leaders of Adults, Langkay Leaders, Kawan Leaders, Troop Leaders, Outfit Advisors, and Circle Managers in July.

The council has been consistently recognized as one of the outstanding councils in the country, topping the National Scout Shop Award in 2023.
