JUSTICE JOSE MIDAS MARQUEZ TO GRACE IBP EASTERN VISAYAS REGIONAL CONVENTION
The 192nd Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, Hon. Justice Jose Midas P. Marquez, will represent Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo during the Opening Ceremony of the IBP Eastern Visayas Regional Convention on 13 June 2024 at Modala Resort, Panglao, Bohol. The Keynote Speech will discuss the Supreme Court’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2007 or SPJI, particularly SPJI’s four (4) guiding principles towards delivery of justice which are (1) timely and fair; (2) transparent and accountable; (3) equal and inclusive; and (4) technology adaptive.
The two-day event with a theme “One Region, One Vision: Elevating the Legal Profession in the Eastern Visayas Region by Adapting to Legal Trends and Judicial Innovations” features a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) which will be credited for the Eighth (8th) Compliance Period across the following subjects of Updates on Substantive and Procedural Laws and Jurisprudence, Trial and Pre-Trial Skills, International Law and Conventions, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Legal Writing and Oral Advocacy, Legal Ethics and MCLE-Prescribed.
On the evening of the first day, there will be a Welcome Dinner with Hawaiian/Floral Theme featuring a Search for Mr. and Ms. IBP Eastern Visayas. The winners will represent the IBP Eastern Visayas during the next National Convention of Lawyers to be held in Cebu City on 30-31 January and 01 February 2025. There will also be an Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the two-day Regional Sportsfest featuring Basketball and Tennis Doubles tournaments. No less than the IBP National President, Atty. Antonio C. Pido, will deliver Inspirational Message during the dinner. JAM 403 will entertain the crowd while Ms. Bohol 2014 Ms. Queenie Melody Fullante will do the hosting chores.
The IBP Executive Vice President, Atty. Allan G. Panolong, who will be the next IBP National President from 2025-2027, will deliver the Inspirational Message during the Fellowship Dinner on the second evening with Coachella Theme. It will be followed by a Legally Funny Stand-up Comedy performance by Attys. Ryan Rey Quilala and Edward Chico. The Checkpoint Band will entertain the crowd while Mr. Erik William Karcher and Atty. Kimberly Mae Gango will do the hosting chores.
This is the third hosting of IBP-Bohol Chapter of this biennial gathering of lawyers in the region after 1995 and 2009.
